What you’ll be doingThe incumbent will be an integral part of Scientific Training and Development team and be responsible for assisting with the training, assessments and competencies of Scientific and Technical staff within NSWHP – Nepean Blue Mountains and Westmead, and their associated regional supervision footprints. The incumbent will travel across sites and carry out Haematology staff training with a focus on Morphology, performance development and competency assessments. The trainer will facilitate continuing professional development for other staff within Haematology/Morphology. Trainers will need to also assist in routine laboratory work to understand workflow and maintain their knowledge.Interested in joining Australia’s largest public pathology service? Apply now by addressing the following questions: * Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to pathology from a recognised tertiary institution.

  • Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical and laboratory staff, along with report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures.
  • Evidence of expertise knowledge and technical experience in one or more disciplines within the field of Pathology with experience in training, competency and method review.
  • Demonstrated managerial skills with experience in laboratory operations, administration and budgeting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems
  • Sound understanding of legislation, policies and requirements that impact the laboratory environment including work health and safety and privacy requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems
  • Current unencumbered NSW Class C Drivers Licence, and willingness to work across all sites within the Nepean Blue Mountains and Westmead as required
