As a team, we leverage Agile ways of working to help our team develop their skills while also making sure our team is focusing on solving the most complex problems for both our customers and team.What you’ll doAs Data Science Manager, you will lead and drive strategic data science initiatives that are critical to shaping our data strategy. This is a high-impact, strategic role that combines strong data science acumen with business strategy and thought leadership. Your role will involve translating complex data science insights into strategic recommendations and partnering with product managers to guide decision-making.This is a Chapter Lead role, and will be responsible for the management and development of a small team of direct reports, at Data Scientist & Senior Data Scientist level.Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide data science technical leadership in our digital space, ensuring alignment with the broader business strategy, with a broad focus across all digital capabilities powered by data, machine learning and AI
  • Act as a trusted advisor to product owners and cross-functional teams, providing thought leadership on how to leverage data science, AI, and machine learning to unlock business value and shape strategy.
  • Develop and execute data science strategies and roadmaps in collaboration with cross-functional teams to support digital transformation and customer experience
  • Supporting and coordinating a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers on end-to-end delivery of data solutions
  • Leading solutions design leveraging centralised capability with innovation to optimise the efficiency of digital experience product delivery
  • Establish and promote best practices and frameworks for delivering high quality, scalable data solutions that support digital and customer initiatives
  • Providing thought leadership in scoping new business cases with a focus on delivering strategic business value leveraging data science capabilities
  • Managing and developing a team of direct reports and supporting the data practice to build a team culture focusing on collaboration, upskilling and career growth.

What you’ll bringWe are looking for an experienced leader with the ability to translate data science solutions into business strategies that drive tangible outcomes, with a solid understanding of statistics, machine learning, and AI.This role will manage and mentor a team of Data Scientists and will support the data practice to build a team culture focusing on collaboration, upskilling and career growth.

  • Experience leading strategic data science engagements and leading and supervising teams of data scientists within large and complex organisations
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in data science, analytics, or related fields, with a focus on strategic leadership
  • Proven experience in end-to-end delivery of data science products to drive commercial outcomes
  • Proven ability to optimise complex machine learning pipelines for performance and scalability, with direct experience in cloud platforms such as GCP (e.g., Vertex AI, BigQuery)
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, and one or more machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
  • Demonstrated experience with MLOps and implementing CI/CD for machine learning workflows
  • Experience integrating machine learning models into REST APIs or microservices architectures
  • Tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline (Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science).
  • Experience in a retail or digital environment is preferable
  • Product management experience is preferable
  • Experience in the development of LLM & NLP techniques is preferable
