Job description: We are ideally looking for a candidate in the Ottawa, ON location as we have an office in that region and it would be preferable to have the new team member come into the office occasionally (once per week). We are however open to remote candidates in the Brazil, UK, Ireland locations as well.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the migration of data from source systems to our data lake (Snowflake), ensuring data privacy, integrity, and consistency.
  • Understand fundamental database concepts such as dimensional modelling, relational database architecture, and more.
  • Design data models that transform raw data into insightful knowledge by understanding business requirements in the context of BI and AI.
  • Develop Power BI dashboards, KPI scorecards, visual reports, and Gen-AI insights.
  • Establish row-level security on data and our data applications security layer models.
  • Design and implement machine learning pipelines for predictive models and integrate into analytical dashboards.
  • Collaborate with various teams across the organization to understand their data needs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Advocate for data best practices, fostering a data-driven culture within the organization.

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Strong technical skills with experience in ETL, data modelling, and visualization/dashboard development.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, DAX, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Dataiku, or similar.
  • Excellent data analysis skills, with the ability to transform complex data into actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various teams, stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business processes and the role of data in supporting strategic objectives.

Assets:

  • Proven experience in business analytics, particularly within the HR domain.
  • Experience with data warehousing/data lakes, preferably Snowflake/SQL server.
  • Strong data architecture knowledge, with familiarity in handling structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to address business challenges creatively and efficiently.
  • Expert in data storytelling with the ability to provide insightful advice and recommended data-driven decisions.
