Job description: Job descriptionMy client is a company that works in the Energy, Construction, Geothermal & Refineries sectors. They are currently looking to recruit for a Principal Environmental / Process Scientist for their Midlands location.Provide technical support to the sales team whilst running and maintaining the in house laboratory. The suitable candidate will have a proven track record of working within the environmental sector and have extensive knowledge of environmental legislation and environmental management techniques.Key Activities and tasks:– Providing technical support to the onshore division responsibilities will include but not limited to:– Provide technical leadership for process orientated activities and support the Technical Sales team in the development of solutions as appropriate– Manage in house technical laboratory and undertake/devise appropriate testing regimes to strengthen the -development of solutions and enable process R&D activities to be undertaken– Providing technical support to the sales teams by reviewing client derived chemical test data and associated site investigation studies and provide input into the likely scope of supply– Provide training and mentoring to junior team members– Liaison with clients and key industry stakeholders for specific technical matters where appropriate– Maintain a high level of understanding of environmental regulations and legislation issues which could influence the business and the opportunities presented– Provide stewardship to training material, including the preparation of articles, papers, publications and presentations, participating as appropriate– Attending seminars and sites as appropriate to provide appropriate level of support to the Technical Sales teams and development of business opportunitiesTraining & Competence:– To attend any required training in order to be deemed competent.– Complete company set competency record.Health & Safety:– Adhere to the company’s QHSE policies and procedures.– Contribute to the company’s Safety Card System.RequirementsAs a minimum will be degree qualified or greater in environmental science, environmental chemistry or other associated scientific discipline.Skills:– Computer skills– Hard working– Ability to problem solve– Ability to work in a team– Initiative to work by themselvesKnowledge:– Relevant industry experience is desirable with practical outlook.– Experience of undertaking analytical work and reviewing technical papers/reports.– Experience of leading teams and developing people.Other– Hold a full UK drivers license– Chartership ideally

Expected salary: £35000 – 45000 per year
