Job description: Lead communication, strategic engagement and complex water quality projects as Principal Scientist (PO5).As the Principal Scientist, you will:

• Lead, manage and deliver complex projects and services related to water quality and aquatic ecosystem decision support systems and tools and associated compliance with government legislation, Departmental policy and environmental standards.
• Develop and implement communication and engagement plans and strategies for the Water Science Support (WSS) group to increase the adoption of water quality data collection tools to support the Department’s decision making related to Environmentally Relevant Activities.
• Participate in and provide expert advice for the ongoing development and maintenance of strategic, technical, business and commercial relationships with key internal and external clients relevant to the group and the position.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other relevant project stakeholders, both internal and external, to achieve the strategic vision and plan for the business.
• Coordinate and support the group with a range of different types of publication, including required training to relevant stakeholders when required.
• Constructively contribute as a senior member of the Water Ecosystem Science Branch and support the Science Leader in the management of the WSS Team.
• Provide management, commitment and support for the effective implementation and ongoing management of WHS Governance policy and procedure, systems, activities and processes within the work unit to fulfil all obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 and DESI policy and procedures.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.

Expected salary: $63921 – 68447 per year
